My wife and I really loved the MUJI Hut that came out several years ago. We were looking for a solution to house guests who visited us at our upstate cottage, but we were disappointed to learn that the MUJI Hut wasn’t available for sale in the U.S. (Japan only) and the price tag of $27000 was a bit steep for such a small space. I decided to take matters into my own hands by designing and building my own Hut! Almost all of the materials were sourced from the Home Depot and Lowes. This was the first structure of this scale that I had ever worked on and I did not hire out any of the trade work like electrical and plumbing. A how-to manual to build your very own DIY Hut is in the works. Stay tuned! Below is a chronological build-out of the Hut from breaking ground to completion.
