DO PHILODENDRONS DREAM OF ELECTRONIC SUITES IN THE KEY OF C++?

For the past several years I have been working with biodata sonification devices to create generative real-time sound installations, musical recordings and live performances. These investigations have been inspired by John Cage’s ideas about art and nature, the books “The Secret Life of Plants” and “The Hidden Life of Trees,” and various pre-Christian / Indigenous ceremonies from around the world that celebrate kinship with Nature. Using this device has allowed for sunlight, temperature, humidity and many other environmental factors to shape the contours of the music. I am also interested in the causality of these metrics (political, historical, ecological and cultural) and how these complex systems intertwine to shape the data that is measured and then heard.
